Iran's young karate champion Navid Mohammadi has won a gold medal in Youth Olympic Games in the Argentine capital Buenos Aires.
While competing in the plus 68 kg category, Mohammadi beat Nabil Echchaibi of Morocco. The Iranian had previously defeated Enes Bulut of Turkey in the semifinals. With this gold medal, Iran's team finished the Games with 7 gold, 3 silvers and 4 bronze medals and stood 7th on the table of medals. Iran had finished 24th in the previous Youth Olympic Games in China back in 2014 with 3 gold and 3 bronze medals.
